The LGBT+ Staff Network is open to any
STSFT member of staff who identifies as
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender
along with those who have a fluid sexuality
or gender and allies who wish to support.
The network is a safe space to get support
from colleagues and help the Trust improve
experiences for all.
LGBT+ Network Update
We relaunched the network at our last meeting with lots of new members and
speakers in attendance. Helen Bone discussed Targeted Lung Health Checks, Tracy
Pender led a conversation on the People Promise and Nathan King attend on behalf
of the Domestic Abuse Health Advocacy team to promote the targeted work the
team are doing to support LGBT+ targets of domestic abuse.
This year the Trust is also sponsoring the Emerald 55 heritage and arts project so
Peter Durant from Out North East attended the network to talk about the project and
plans for future Pride events in the region. Emerald 55 commemorates the 55th
anniversary of the Stonewall Riots and how this moment sparked a political and social
movement which is often seen as a watershed moment in LGBTQ+ history.
If you'd like to find out more about the network and get involved please email

Our next meeting will be the first of our new bi-monthly social events and we'll be
hosting a Christmas Jingle and Mingle for members to come along, get to know each
other and take part in a Christmas quiz. Next meeting date and time: Thursday 12th
December 3.30 onwards in Sunderland Restaurant - 4.30pm (Hybrid: MS Teams and
SRH Finance Conference Room).
