Awards success Nursing Times
Congratulations the teams involved in our
recent success at the national Nursing Times
Workforce Awards.
Cancer Internship Programme team picked up
the award for the 'Best Workplace for Learning
and Development' in conjunction with South Tees
Hospitals. The programme provides an opportunity
to develop our cancer workforce and provide
excellence in cancer care.
Our Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health
Professional Workforce Team were also shortlisted
for 'Workforce Team of the Year.'
Our Matron for International Recruitment, Mayflor
Bernal, was also part of a team that won an award
for 'Staff Recognition and Engagement' for their
work on international retention.
Chief Nursing Officer Award
Director of Midwifery
Congratulations to Karen Gibson, one of our Practice Support Health Care Assistants. She recently
received a surprise Chief Nursing Officer Award.
The Chief Nursing Officer Awards recognise and reward the significant and outstanding contribution made
by nurses and healthcare support workers. Karen was nominated for her fantastic work supporting HCA
colleagues at STSFT.
We are pleased to let you know that we have
appointed a new Director of Midwifery. Jane
Anderson will join us from Newcastle Hospitals
in March next year and help us build on the
excellent work being done across our maternity
services to learn and improve.
We have recently had some very positive feedback
from a regional assurance visit about the progress
we are making in maternity.
The visiting team felt that their visit was really
positive, with clear evidence of how much the Trust
had improved since the Ockenden visit in 2022 and
the CQC inspection.
"Staff enthusiasm for their work and passion to
improve the service further was clearly evident
during the day. The staff were accommodating and
friendly and keen to demonstrate their progress.
The vulnerabilities team was a real positive
demonstrating a clear focus on personalised
care and value-added approach for patients. The
bereavement services were excellent including the
facilities available to support women and their
families during this difficult period."
AGFA pacs go live success
This month we successfully switched over to our new AGFA PACS digital imaging system.
The transition to the new system was smooth thanks to a lot of planning and work from our
radiology teams and our IT department.
The new system is a key part of our technology infrastructure and means we now have a single
platform to view radiology images across the Trust.
