The Trust attended Sunderland Family Pride Picnic on 9th June and
will be at South Tyneside Pride Concert on 28th July this year. It was
great to meet our local community to discuss how we can make our
services more inclusive. We were joined by colleagues from our End
of Life Service, Workforce Development Team and Unison.
We will soon be sharing a Pride 2024 report detailing our experiences
at both events.
We have paid for a market stall at both events and would like to take
a collaborative approach - if any teams are interested in joining up for
the South Tyneside event please get in touch with the Inclusion Team

The Inclusion team have continued to work with different teams across the Trust to remove barriers
for people. We are working on a support sheet for people to know what services are available
including the staff networks, wellbeing teams, health checks, Thrive, Chaplaincy support and stop
smoking services.
We have also been supporting patients who have submitted complaints to learn from these and
make improvements. If a patient has a specific need such as requiring information in alternative
format, or a reasonable adjustment, please ensure this is logged on their patient record using the
special indicator flag. We have a legal duty to do this and have received several patient complaints
as patient needs have not been flagged or met. If you see a flag on a patient record you need to
put in place the request. For example, if they require an interpreter or translation please contact
Everyday Language Solutions who provide our services. You can find the booking form here.
Please note if you are unsure how to meet a patients need the best thing to do is ask the patient.
