Performance against national waiting time standards - March 2024
We continue to perform well compared to the rest of the NHS but are still some way off meeting the
national standards.
• Our ED performance in March was 72.85%. This was an improvement by nearly 6% compared to
February and was the highest figure for five months. We were the 4th best performing Trust in the region
in March. No patients waited over 12 hours.
• In March, 71.56% of patients were treated within 18 weeks. This was less than February. STSFT was
above the national and regional average.
• The number of patients waiting over six weeks for a diagnostic test increased to 23.19%. This is because
of an increase in patients waiting over six weeks in audiology.
• In cancer care, the Trust was above the 28 day faster diagnosis standard. We also achieved the 31 day
treatment standard. Our performance against the 62 day standard improved in February. We are also
above the regional and national performance levels.
Emergency care - 72.85% of patients seen within four hours
- 63rd out of 124 acute Trusts nationally

Recovery of services
We continue to work hard to reduce waiting lists. We have one patient waiting over 78 weeks (1 1/2 years).
The patient is on a national waiting list and is waiting for transplant tissue to become available for an eye
operation. We are working hard to reduce the number of patients waiting over 52 weeks. This is currently 540
patients. This is an increase of 16 compared to February. Most of these are in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
