The Trust currently employs 8674 staff. Of
this number 78.9% have told us they
identify as heterosexual or straight, 1.6%
identify as gay or lesbian and 1% that they
identify as bi-sexual. This means that
18.5% of staff have chosen not to disclose
this information. Whilst staff do not need
to disclose this information, it helps us
identify any barriers to equality being
faced by different staff groups and put in
support to ensure everyone feels they are
valued at South Tyneside and Sunderland.
Why do we ask for this information?
The Inclusion Team use anonymised ESR and staff survey data to identify any areas
or groups of staff who have unfair experiences and to create action plans that will be
used by the Trust to improve staff experiences. This data also helps us measure our
compliance with equality legislation. By letting us know your equality information we
can ensure that all staff receive fair treatment.
