Information Sharing
1. The Data Protection Act (GDPR May 18) requires us to protect
personal data (which allows an individual to be identified); but it is
not a barrier to sharing information
2. Being open and honest with the child/family is the best policy
3. If you are in doubt about sharing information, seek advice
4. Confidential information can be shared with consent where
appropriate or for legitimate purposes such as in the Public
Interest
5. Always consider the safety and well-being of the child first
6. Information shared should be necessary, proportionate, relevant,
accurate, timely and secure
7. Keep a record of the decision and reason; what information was
shared; how it was shared, and with whom
