Trauma Informed Practice (TIP)
The previous slide highlighted how a common theme in recent SAR's was
that staff required training in Trauma Informed Practice, but what is it?
• Trauma-Informed Practice is a strengths-based framework grounded in
an understanding of and responsiveness to the impact of trauma, that
emphasises physical, psychological, and emotional safety for everyone,
and that creates opportunities for survivors to rebuild a sense of control

• A trauma-informed approach to care acknowledges that health care

patient's life situation, past and present, in order to provide effective
health care services with a healing orientation.
• Adopting trauma-informed practices can potentially improve patient
engagement, treatment adherence, and health outcomes, as well as
provider and staff wellness
