Learning Outcomes
The Learning Outcomes for this E-Learning package have been mapped against both
the children and adult Intercollegiate document. In summary, at the end of this
package all staff should be able:
• To have a good understanding of children and adult safeguarding agendas and
your role within the legislative frameworks.
• To identify possible signs of abuse, drawing on professional and clinical expertise.
• To understand what constitutes abuse, including the recognition of factors that can
impact upon the vulnerability of a family and their ability to safeguard either
themselves or their children.
• To understand how complex lifestyles and possible lifestyle choices can have an
adverse effect on the family.
• To know how to contribute to and make a considered judgement about how to act
and respond to safeguard concerns, inclusive of professional challenge and
escalation.
• To understand how to share information appropriately, taking into consideration
confidentiality, data-protection issues and the requirement to record decisions
made.
• To understand and feel confident in how to make a safeguarding referral.
• To demonstrate effective multi-agency working when safeguarding children and
adults.
