MAPPA
• MAPPA stands for: Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements
• Introduced by the Criminal Justice and Courts Services Act 2000 to address the need
for the public to be protected from dangerous offenders.
Purpose -
• To help to protect the public, including previous victims of crime, from serious harm by
sexual and violent offenders
• MAPPA Guidance (2012) Version 4, Section 1.
• The safeguarding adult team attend MAPPA panels to ensure STSFT fulfils its statutory
responsibilities.
• The team contribute to the assessment and management of the risks posed by relevant
sexual and violent offenders.
• The team have strong links with Security in order to ensure that STSFT's electronic
systems are flagged to protect our staff and patient's from those who are assessed as
posing a risk of sexual or violent behaviour.
